Accident near Starbuck

The conditions of five men involved in an airboat accident near Starbuck are unknown at this time according to the Pope County Sheriff’s Office.

On Sept. 21 at 6:40 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of a watercraft accident southwest of Starbuck in White Bear Lake Township. At the scene, authorities found 38-year-old Jason Meulebroeck, 38-year-old Nicolas Gugisberg, 37-year-old Jesse Koob, 38-year-old Isaac Schiffler and 38-year-old Travis McCrory—all of Glenwood. The five men were transported to Glacial Ridge Hospital.

Responding to the scene were the Pope County Sheriff’s Office, Starbuck Ambulance, Glacial Ridge Ambulance, Starbuck and Glenwood Fire Departments, Minnesota DNR and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Uganda dignitaries to visit Glenwood

A contingent of dignitaries from the African country of Uganda and the United Nations ambassador for Uganda will be visiting Glenwood in September.

The Glenwood Rotary Club was instrumental in setting up the visit of Kintu Nyago, deputy permanent representative of Uganda’s Mission to the United Nations in New York.  It was announced last week that Nyago would be accompanied by Iganga District Governor  Mr. Kayemba Patrick Gavamukulya  and James Luyimbazi, town clerk of the Iganga Municipal Council.  read entire story. . . .

Harvest Ball proceeds provide vital machines

This year’s Harvest Ball is of vital importance to the Glacial Ridge Hospital (GRH) nursing department. Proceeds from the upcoming Harvest Ball, set for Oct. 14 at Lakeside Ballroom, will help the GRH Auxiliary purchase vital machines for each patient room in the new hospital wing.  read entire story. . . .
