Welcome to The Starbuck Times

The city located on the west shore of Lake Minnewaska, at the junction of Highways 28, 29 and 114. It is 130 miles northwest of the Twin Cities. With an economic development board assisting new businesses in getting started, Starbuck has been gaining in population since 1995.
A municipal airport, Minnewaska District Hospital, Minnewaska Area High School, supporting students from Starbuck, Glenwood, Lowry and Villard enrolled in this joint-effort facility.



It’s Lefse time on May 18

The 27th annual LEFSE DAGEN will take place on Saturday, May 18 at the Starbuck Depot. The open house hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lowry City Council  approves building permit for new  county garage

The Lowry City Council approved a request for a building permit from Pope County Engineer Brian Noetzelman to build a 30 by 60 foot shop to house a road grader in Lowry at the May 7 meeting. The shop is one of four the county hopes to build to save on fuel costs of having to drive a road grader to each location.
Noetzelman said he would bring in a $100 check for the permit.  read entire story. . . .

Capital improvement and highway department facilities bonds issued

It’s official—county commissioners approved the sale of $1,830,000 in general obligation bonds on May 7 as part of their regular board meeting. The money from the bond sale will be used to fund the county’s five-year capital improvement plan and will also provide for new highway department buildings being built in four locations around the county.  read entire story. . . .
